Install Photon Glow

Install (Windows)
  1. Close After Effects and Premiere Pro.
  2. Unzip the download.
  3. Copy PhotonGlow.aex into C:\Program Files\Adobe\Common\Plug-ins\7.0\MediaCore. Windows asks for administrator permission; click Continue.
  4. Open After Effects or Premiere Pro. Photon Glow is in the Effects panel under Drag Pixels.
Uninstall

Close both apps and delete PhotonGlow.aex from the folder above. Your saved looks stay in Documents\Drag Pixels\Photon Glow\Looks.

Activate your license

Apply Photon Glow to any layer, click Activate in its controls and paste the license key from your purchase email. The watermark disappears right away.

Common questions

Premiere Pro: my type-on transition shows the whole text at once.

In Premiere Pro, transitions run after a clip's effects, so the glow fills the gaps between letters. Fix: right-click the text clip > Nest, then put Photon Glow on the nested clip. The text now types on letter by letter, and each letter glows as it appears.

My glow is cut off at the edge of a title in Premiere Pro.

Premiere Pro can't draw outside a small graphic. Put Photon Glow on an adjustment layer above the title, or nest the title.

How do I glow only the bright parts of footage?

Pick the Soft Bloom look, set View to Threshold Preview and raise Threshold until only the highlights show. Then set View back.

How do I get back to the original settings?

The reset arrow next to Look Preset resets the look you're on. The reset next to the effect name restores everything to Default.
